1 onion
2 carrots
1 bottle of brown ale
Tomato puree

1 sachet of beef & ale stew mix
1 tbsp vegetable oil
450g lean diced braising steak
1 onion, diced
2 carrots, sliced
1 bottle of brown ale
50ml cold water 
2 tbsp tomato puree

Before cooking: Preheat the oven to 180°C, Fan 160°C, Gas Mark 4. Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a frying pan. 
During cooking: Fry the diced braising steak and the onions over a high heat for 7-8 minutes or until browned. Place the steak, onions and carrots in an ovenproof casserole dish. Mix the contents of the sachet with the brown ale, water and tomato puree and pour over the beef and vegetables. Cover and cook in the oven for 1 hour 45 minutes or until the beef is tender.
